In the book of Hebrews 11:1 it says, 'Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.'
This powerful verse encapsulates the essence of faith, highlighting its ability to provide believers with unwavering hope and conviction. In 2 Corinthians 5:7, we are reminded to walk by faith, taking each step with the belief that God will fulfill His promises.
1. Put God First in Your Life
One of the fundamental principles of faith is placing God at the center of our lives. By prioritizing our relationship with Him, we acknowledge His sovereignty and trust in His plans for us. When we make God our top priority, we align our desires with His will, allowing Him to guide our steps and provide us with the assurance we need.
2. Refuse to Doubt
Doubt can be a stumbling block on our journey of faith. However, as believers, we are called to resist doubt and instead choose to trust in God's faithfulness. By focusing on His past faithfulness and the promises He has fulfilled, we can overcome doubt and hold on to the conviction that He will continue to work in our lives.
3. Call Things That Be Not as Though They Were
Speaking words of faith is a powerful practice. Just as God spoke the world into existence, we have the ability to speak life and declare things that are not yet visible. By speaking words of faith and aligning our declarations with God's Word, we activate His power and invite His intervention in our circumstances.
4. Check Yourself by God's Word
God's Word serves as a compass for our faith. It is essential to regularly examine ourselves and our beliefs in light of His Word. By aligning our thoughts, actions, and beliefs with the truth of Scripture, we ensure that our faith is grounded in God's principles and not influenced by worldly perspectives.
5. Be a Doer of the Word
James 2:17 reminds us that faith without works is dead. It is not enough to simply believe; our faith must be accompanied by action. By actively living out our faith, we demonstrate our trust in God and His ability to bring about the fulfillment of His promises.
6. Listen to the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is our guide and counselor. By cultivating a relationship with Him and listening to His promptings, we can navigate our journey of faith with wisdom and discernment. The Holy Spirit reveals God's will to us and empowers us to live a life that is pleasing to Him.
7. Run from Evil
As followers of Christ, we are called to flee from evil and pursue righteousness. By actively avoiding sinful behaviors and influences, we protect our faith and maintain a close relationship with God. Running from evil allows us to walk in alignment with God's will and experience the fullness of His blessings.
Conclusion
Faith is the key that unlocks the abundant life God has promised us. By putting God first, refusing to doubt, speaking words of faith, aligning ourselves with God's Word, being a doer of the Word, listening to the Holy Spirit, and running from evil, we can walk by faith and experience the transformative power it holds. Faith is not just a concept; it is a way of life. It is the answer to every challenge we face and the source of unwavering hope in the midst of uncertainty.
